Halfway between Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada in a remote corner of the Mojave Desert is a place called Bacon Strip Ranch. It's nothing more than a dirt airstrip next to a few cabins and an outhouse surrounded by 100,000 acres of some of the most beautiful and majestic desert land in the Southwest states. Bacon Strip Ranch is one of only a few bush airstrips in southern California and its 2000' dry lake bed makes it an easy fly-in destination for good pilots. Our remote location makes for ideal use of your airplane. The nearest paved road is seventeen miles away. That might not sound like much but that's more than an hour's drive for even some of the hardiest off-road vehicles.
Bacon Strip Ranch is "Where the fun gets done" which can't be stated any simpler. Visitors will enjoy the desert in ways they couldn't have imagined before coming out to the "middle of nowhere." Bacon Strip Ranch is for those who want to get away from it all, those who want true adventure. During the day take in the sunny skies and fresh air. Explore the area on ATV's. Hike nearby mountains. Walk along an abandoned railroad line. Visit the mysterious Desert Megaphone and old Indian petraglyphs. At night sit around a campfire under a sky full of stars. Listen to the coyotes howl in the distance. And the next day, do it all again.
Access to Bacon Strip Ranch is by airplane or four wheel drive. The amount of water, food, or medicine available is what you bring in. Bacon Strip Ranch is only a few hours from Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, or Las Vegas but once here it feels like a million miles away. Experience for yourself this isolated outpost. Hours Of OperationThe ranch may be attended at anytime of the year but our regular hours of operation are from Noon to Sundown the first and third Saturdays September through May weather permitting. The ranch is also attended during the following annual holidays:
Weather conditions that could close the ranch and the airstrip would be any amount of rain, wind in excess of 30 mph, and temperatures above 100 degrees. The ranch is open to self service visitors throughout the year whether it's attended or not.
