Desert Flowers Blooming In Winter |
A December trip to the ranch revealed
several of these small blue wildflowers along the way.
Hard to believe that while much of the country
is in the grip of Old Man Winter there are flowers blooming in the
Mojave Desert.
I like to mention our Chamber of Commerce winter
weather this time of year because our "winter" is the summer when
it's so hot out here you can barely function.
Granted, we've been having overnight temps in
the bone-chilling 30's but the days have been sunny and comfortable.
Veterans' Day Visit From Friends Of BSR

It's a little late in the year to report
a visit from friends during Veterans' Day Weekend in November
but this picture just recently came across the internet press.
Adam Greenberg (second from left) has been
coming out to the desert since he was like about four years old
every Veterans' Day and Presidents' Day weekends.
You have to admire Adam's choice of dates for
visiting the Mojave Desert and his longevity in sticking with
them. Kinda makes me want to do some annual trip, let's say
every Arbor Day, for the rest of my life.
Although Adam and his friends were just passing
through on their way to other desert activities (which most likely
included drinking several malt beverages), it was nice to tip back a
few with them while they were there.
Pictured left to right standing are: Tim
Maxwell, Adam Greenberg, Mike Wygant, John Bacon, John Brenner, Dave
Conahey, and Todd Ebright. Sitting left to right is Chuck
Karayan and Chris Beitzel.
