Desert Property Is Selling, Going Up In
Value |
Not only is desert property near the
ranch starting to sell but it seems to be going up in value
rather nicely as well.
This article is not a solicitation to purchase
property. I'm just reporting the news. Fact is, with so little news
coming out of the ranch this time of year with sweltering temperatures
and no real ranch activity in several weeks, I'm grabbing at anything
I get my hands on. Lord help me with next weeks update.
I received a correspondence in my snail
mail box the other day from a desert real estate broker telling
me about land for sale near the ranch. It was a colorful brochure
showing 400 acres less than a mile away from the ranch. The asking
price was $97,300. Doing the math, that's $243/acre. Ten years ago
comps in this area went for $1 fitty/acre.
Having serious doubts the broker was having any
luck selling this land I offered him advertising space on the web
site to get him more exposure. To my surprise he said there was
an offer on the table. He also went on to say that a 20 acre west
of the ranch was recently listed at $16,300 or $815/acre.
I'm don't know what's going on with real estate
prices near the ranch. THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE, FOLKS!
California real estate prices have appreciated
very well in recent years in the urban areas while holding steady
in the desert. But now things seem to be changing. Maybe it has
something to do with the recent Union Pacific railroad construction
near the ranch that I reported on last week. I still haven't found
out what the deal is on that and I'll report back on that as soon
as I hear.
