With the desert season just around the
corner efforts are underway to separate airplane traffic
and offroad vehicle traffic with the use of rail road ties.
Heavy offroad vehicles tear up the dirt surface
more than airplanes especially when drivers keep their vehicles
wheels in four-wheel-drive mode.
On the left side of the ties in the above picture
is the tie-down area. On the right is the main trail through the
area and is lightly rutted from heavy offroad vehicle traffic.
